About Me

AC3184

I'm a self-taught digital artist and character illustrator who loves bringing unique characters to life!

Artist Statement

My name is Shannon Campbell, a Character Illustrator based in Camarillo, CA.

My art focuses on stylized silhouettes with exaggerated features. I take great inspiration from different kinds of fashion and unique hairstyles. My art tends to be bold and colorful, but I do love a neutral palette as well.

I do most of my work digitally with Clip Studio Paint. I also use Blender when I have a piece that demands a lot of perspective, or I need to sculpt out a body for reference.

I am inspired by many different artists. As a kid I loved all of the Disney Princesses. Discovering Lady Gaga as a teen really opened my eyes to fashion and how far you could go. And in my early twenties Steven Universe's simplicity and basic shapes really challenged me to play more with my personal style.

I've found that starting on paper works really well for me. In that phase I can get my ideas out. Then I switch to my iPad and stitch together all of the different parts I like from each doodle. After some time away I can come in with a new perspective and finish up the design.

In the end, my goals are to keep creating characters that are diverse and to work with like-minded people so we can bring out the best in each other.
